Anxiety is a common psychological condition experienced by patients prior to surgical procedures and can influence both physiological responses and overall surgical outcomes. Deep breathing relaxation therapy is a simple and non-pharmacological intervention that can be applied to reduce anxiety levels. This study aims to determine the effect of deep breathing relaxation therapy on reducing anxiety among pre-operative patients. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach was used. The sample consisted of pre-operative patients selected through purposive sampling. Anxiety levels were measured using a standardized anxiety assessment questionnaire. The intervention was administered through several deep breathing relaxation sessions before the surgical procedure. The results showed a significant decrease in anxiety levels after the therapy, with a p-value < 0.05. These findings indicate that deep breathing relaxation therapy is effective in reducing anxiety among pre-operative patients. This intervention can be recommended as a supportive nursing strategy to improve patient comfort and readiness before undergoing surgery.
